Got a call from Phua Lay Hoon yesterday that Meng Lai, my Sec 4 RGS classmate is dying and in Mt E's ICU. Declared technically brain dead yesterday by doctors and now under life support systems.
What a shocker this was! Meng Lai? I last saw her about 8 months ago with Lay Hiong and Sow Han in SCC over tea.
I visited her this morning and am very saddened by her condition, a very unexpected unpredictable incident triggered by a day surgery on her heart to correct her heart palpitations. From a simple procedure by a renowned heart surgeon to a sudden rupturing of a critical nerve that controls involuntary actions like heartbeat, respiratory movements, etc. Just finds it hard to believe that this has happened.
She now lies helpless and motionless in CCU.
I asked God what to pray for her and what portion of scripture should I read to her. The Lord prompted me to read her Ps 23 and I did slowly, haltingly and with tears. I prayed that she will experience God's peace and be rest assured that He will take care of both Wilfred and Sharon.
I left feeling very heavy laden and wondering what God will do in her situation.
