Was reading up about wagyu beef on the internet and chanced upon it being called as caviar or foie gras of beef. There are many grades in wagyu beef and the most renowned is definitely the Kobe beef of which cattle must be raised in Japan's Hyogo Prefecture to receive that distinction. Kobe beef is wagyu beef but not all wagyu beef is Kobe beef. Get it? Quite tempted to buy some at ESpirito SanTo butchery to try.
Since the word "foie gras" popped up, I decided to read up. I heard of it being such a delicacy in the western cuisine. Goose liver? Nice meh? After reading about it, I felt so miserable that I had hard time sleeping last night. Humans can just think of cruel means to torture living things just to satisfy their tastebuds. Poor ducks/geese who have been brutally force-fed two to three times daily till their livers become diseased and enlarged ten times their normal size. They are all kept in very tight enclosures which restricted their movements. (Eat, sleep, grow fat and be killed). They are then slaughtered for their "priced" livers. Before that, many die from punctured throats, poor health and extremely filthy living conditions. I WILL NOT eat this so-called delicacy of despair no matter how heavenly it may taste. For those of you who have tasted it before, think about the poor ducks/geese and their diseased livers before popping it into your mouths the next time.
