Went to Great World City for Japanese lunch at Kuriya. Pretty good value for money for the food we consumed. After that passed by "That CD Shop" and i had wanted to buy the "Il Divo" CD. First heard about this operatic quartet from The Oprah Winfrey Show one afternoon many weeks back when this new group was introduced by American Idol judge Simon Cowell. They performed their interpretation of Toni Braxton's "Unbreak my heart". It was so enchanting and I told myself to buy their cd if I chanced by a music shop. To my surprise that Oprah show was first aired on 5 April
2005 and I thought it was a recent segment. I felt so back-dated.
A little background on this group called Il Divo which really means divine male performer in Italian. These 4 really suave gentlemen are 33 to 38 years old. One American (David Miller) a tenor, One French (Sebastien Izambard), One Swiss (Urs Buhler), a tenor and finally one Spanish (Carlos Marin), a baritone. They sounded like the 3 infamous tenors (Luciano Pavarotti 71, Placido Domingo 65 and Jose Carreras 60) but look like Armani models. Interestingly, took a liking for such music and had enjoyed listening to Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli lately although I do not understand Italian, Spanish and Latin. Actually my first exposure was when I heard Jose Carreras paired up with Sarah Brightman to sing "Amigos Para Siempre" (Friends for Life) during the 1992 Summer Olympics. Their vocals were superbly incredible. Guess that sparked my little interest. Now we have these 4 dangerous good-looking men with their heavenly vocals, I believe many ladies will be swept off their feets just by listening and looking at them. For me, looks aside, I thank God for creating them and giving them this gift of such excellent voices. Yea, yea all good things come from God!
Another exciting discovery this afternoon was the opening of this butchery at the basement, Espirito Santo. I was so thrilled to see their extensive range of meats, sausages and sauces. I think I am quite a suaku because have not seen wagyu beef and veal before. So exciting and I even visited their website to find out more. This butchery is owned by a Brazilian lady named Fabiane Mendes Braga. Two head butchers, one Singaporean and the other a New Zealander. A new perspective that even butchers are so stylish - so different from those I see at the wet market who are untidy and dirty-looking.
