It has been over a month since I last posted anything here. Here I start again...
To begin, this week has been rather depressing.
TC fell ill on Tuesday with fever. Then it was Clem's turn on Wednesday. Both father and son were "isolated" in the "sick" room for two nights to prevent cross infecting the rest of the family, me included. I had to set alarm in the middle of the first night to check on their temperatures. Reminded me of my early years of motherhood when I had to wake up at least once in the middle of the night to feed my babies. Papa Chua went back to work today but sonny Clem came down with spinning headache this morning and even high fever this evening. Sigh, don't know what's wrong internally? If only I knew!! Gotta bring him to see Leong Choon Kit tomorrow morning. Is it the nose, lungs, stomach or just viral? Besides humans, even Tasha our shih tzu was not well. She puked and pooed all over the dining area. Arrgh, imagine me cleaning up the mess! Had to fetch her to the vet for a jab and 10 days of oral medication. Sigh.
Last night around 7 plus, I received a sms message requesting prayer for Eric Tan's 16 year old nephew who was critically ill in ICU with dengue. In less than 2 hours, he passed on. I was speechless...Eric and family is flying home tonight over this weekend for his funeral. So sad, in fact this is the second tragedy in his extended family within one year.
As I reflect, how should we apply Rom 8:28 in our lives when tragedies or unpleasant incidences happen to us which are beyond our control? Do we truly believe in the souvereignty of God? If we do, then whatever happen to us falls within the divine will of the Lord. He has allowed it to happen for a reason, sometimes known or unknown to us, finite beings. As I was preparing for my BS tonight, I chanced upon a saying by George Mueller who said
"Difficulties, limitations, hindrances, bereavements and losses, though we shrink exceedingly from them are the very agencies that God uses to cause us to grow. As an infant has its limbs developed by means of exercise and nourishment... so in a spiritual sense is the Christian made strong by adversity."
How true, life on earth is transcient and only if we can truly understand what's upon His heart, that will certainly make our journey here more bearable.
